Welcome 2011!

Wow, what a year 2010 was. I began the journey to reclaim myself. What do I mean? First off, I lost 40+ pounds. Well, I shouldn’t need to go on. That’s amazing enough! I found a life full of more energy and more fun. I realized I may have OCD tendencies (that sometimes lie dormant) when I began organizing and reorganizing my closets. Then I realized what that was all about. Getting rid of the excess in my life. The fat (hooray) and the junk. You know…all of those material items that you thought were important or cute and that you couldn’t live without. What were we thinking? All they do is create another surface to dust or item to yell at your 1 year old to not touch.

So, for 2011 I have some more goals to not just set, but to achieve!

I took a week month little bit of time off from my healthy eating.  I haven’t been true to my eating or new lifestyle since before Thanksgiving.  While my goal of not gaining or losing any weight over this time was working, it went horribly wrong about Christmas day.  A few days at my mother-in-laws surrounded by EXCELLENT cooking and lots of treats completely overcame my willpower.  New Years Eve I once again got totally derailed (I don’t think I need to explain that one).  I am ready to get this healthy lifestyle back on track.  I am hooking up with The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans for their new challenge The Power of One. First step is to list your healthy living goals for 2011, so here goes:

1. Continue my weight loss with a goal of anouther 30 pounds. This will put me at what I weighed when I got married. Although, somehow after 2 kiddos I don’t think my body will be quite the same. But those two boys are definitely worth every stretch mark and flabby tummy!

2. Exercise. This will be the hardest. I want to set a goal that is reasonable and that I will actually be able to achieve. So, it’s a two parter. Part 1 – exercise 1-2 days per week every week through tax season (my season of total hell). I know, that’s not enough. So, starting May 1st part 2 will be exercising 3-4 times per week. Yes, I gave myself a little time after tax season to get that one going!

3. Continue to declutter my life. Yes, the junk in my house makes my house less healthy! This will include organizing my work life, home life, and is my computer life another one? Ha, maybe so!

Ok. That’s it. 3 little goals…Ok, well they will be huge if I can stick to them. Let’s do this! First things first, I’m off to throw away the rest of the holiday treats that are in my kitchen.

PS – starting weight is 194. Yes, that 0 weight gain over the holidays didn’t quite work…but I learned a valuable lesson. 🙂

Down & Dirty Week 1

Today is the first weigh in for the workout challenge I started over at The Sisterhood.  I started the 30 day shred, and whew, I’m out of shape!  Monday night was my first workout, and I had a hard time keeping myself going during the workout.  I skipped Tuesday night for several lame reasons (too tired, sore, too late, kids were out of control…).  Tonight I wasn’t going to let myself off the hook.  Hubby was working tonight, so it was just me and the boys.  I had a laundry list of things to do, but right before the kids bedtime I decided it was time to get my butt in gear.  I took the two boys upstairs and started the workout.  My three year old was participating, but only lasted through the warm-up.  Then he said he was tired and sat down.  He gets it honestly (from me).  He decided to tumble on the floor and play with his one year old brother instead (which actually was pretty helpful).

I did much better the second time, and boy could I feel my sore muscles from Monday night.  I still wasn’t able to do all the reps, but I gave it a good solid try.

I went to the doctor today, and I am down 34 lbs since I started my weight loss journey in March.  I started slowly (IT WAS TAX SEASON), went on several vacations, and have been eating at my mother-in-laws a lot(that woman CAN COOK) since then so I am quite proud of myself.  I have a long way to go, but I have never been this motivated in my life!

Today’s weight – 202.  Next week, my goal is to have a 1 in front of that number.  I don’t care if it’s 199.99999, I just need to be out of the 2’s.

Ely vs. Bottle

It has been a while since I have added to my blog. I’ve never been good at scrapbooking, which was my main reason for starting the blog. Here is my vow to do better!

We spent the weeking out at my Mother-In-Laws, and we had a great time as usual. We spent time shopping, eating, playing, swimming, and more quality family time. We just got home this evening, and a few moments ago here comes Carter running into the Den. He was telling us that Ely was in the dishwasher. Yikes! Visions of sharp knives running through my head. Pate went to grab him, and what did Ely get out of the dishwasher. You guessed it. A bottle! We have not been giving him a bottle lately (except those 4 am wake up calls that don’t stop without them). It was the funniest site to see him holding a bottle, saying baba, as of course Pate had to take it away. I just wish I could have caught it on camera.

Down and Dirty in 30 – Initial Weigh In

I am starting a new challenge today.  The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans has started a new 30 day challenge. It has been a while since I participated in a challenge (or kept up with the site). In fact, it’s been TOO LONG (back in the fall). I am excited to participate in a new challenge. I have lost quite a bit of weight since my last challenge, but I have not been able to convince myself to start a true exercise program. With many pounds still to go, and a lifetime of maintenance, I am determined to make exercise a part of my life. So here we go…

We are doing Jillian’s 30 day Shred. Thank you to Comcast for having it on Demand (since I absolutely forgot to go pick up the DVD). Now, to do something I never thought I would do…post my weight on a public site! I am so determined to do well, that I am shouting my weight to the world. Ok, maybe I am just secretly posting it on a blog that about 0% of the world reads, but it’s still a big step. Starting weight today…203.5. Whew, now I’m going to go work off a few of those pounds. Wish me luck! Jillian…I already hate love you!

Hello? Are you my mommy?

Another tax season under my belt. I believe this was the hardest one yet – emotionally. Last year was certainly he hardest one on me physically. Being 6 months pregnant and handling 100 extra returns will certainly take its toll! This year the work seemed to be easier. Maybe because caffeine and alcohol were back on the menu, or perhaps because Chuck helped us out and did a really great job. BUT…not seeing the kiddos really took a toll on me. I think the worst was the last week, when on Wednesday I realized I had not seen the boys (awake) since Sunday! We will definitely have to do better next year!

Today we returned from a few days in the mountains. I enjoyed just relaxing and spending time with the family. Ely has really grown. He is still not crawling, but he sure can stretch those arms and manuever his body to reach just about anything! Carter has such a great personality. We truly are blessed. We got to eat two wonderful meals at the Canyon Grill, and even got complements on how great the boys were. I am looking forward to spending the rest of the week with them before I go back to work on Monday. I will definitely plan a few more days off soon to enjoy my boys!
